Dr. Stephen Webb Retirement
It is with mixed feelings that we announce the pending retirement of Dr. Stephen Webb after 40 years of dedicated medical service. Since 1996, Dr. Webb has provided psychiatric treatment, consultation, and leadership at the West Niagara Mental Health Program at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Prior to establishing the West Niagara Mental Health Team, he worked with the Niagara Geriatric Mental Health Team, offering consultations while also regularly seeing patients at East Region Mental Health in Hamilton.
Dr. Webb was instrumental in introducing treatments for PTSD into regular clinical use and in spearheading collaborations with the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital pharmacy to expand advanced medication options for the treatment of psychosis. He has provided extensive training and mentorship in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based treatments. Importantly, Dr. Webb never shied away from caring for patients others found difficult or challenging.
Throughout his career, Dr. Webb has been a trusted resource for family physicians and primary care providers, offering consultations and advice on complex clinical presentations. He has supported Family Health Teams across West Niagara, Hamilton, and Burlington, as well as contributing to services with the ACT team in Sault Ste. Marie.
Psychiatry and family medicine residents, medical students, clinical clerks, allied health professionals, and learners of all kinds have benefited from Dr. Webb’s teaching, instruction, and guidance. If you have been touched by Dr. Webb’s care, we invite you to share a memory, thought, or best wish through the link below so that we may pass it along to him.
